| CAB's
Mission Statement
Our mission is to integrate
individuals who are visually impaired and blind into all aspects
of the community, thereby improving their overall quality of
life. Our dedication lies on providing educational
opportunities, recreational alternatives, communication and
social skill building that is combined with a sense of purpose
and community spirit. Through our diverse programs and services,
CAB will encourage individuals to learn more about leadership
training, community service opportunities, college and job
preparation and collaborations with other organizations.

Community Alliance for the
Blind (CAB) is a Non-Profit Organization for the Blind and it is
made up of a Blind and Visually Impaired Volunteer Staff. CAB's
Staff has at least three to five years of experience working
with the blind and visually impaired in their surrounding
community. CAB's Blind and Visually Impaired Volunteer Staff
also mentor many of CAB's clients by giving them an opportunity
to take part of important planning and Volunteer positions
within CAB's Programs that make CAB what it is today. Many
thanks to all of the Very Special Volunteers who keep CAB's
Programs running all year long.
PROGRAMS
Youth program
Introduces blind and visually
impaired youth to a variety of activities and events through
educational and recreational outings. This program will
allow sighted and visually impaired youth to meet, play and work
closely with others to become more outgoing individuals.
Youth leadership
Provides blind and sighted teens
with unique opportunities of leadership training, volunteer
service and coordination, and college and career planning.
Community service
CAB's clients have been heavily
involved in the Whittier community and surrounding areas.
These individuals have hosted holiday parties for abused
children and homeless families. Our clients have had the
opportunity to harvest vegetables for the homeless, give hugs to
the elderly, chaperone at a prom for children with speech
development problems and even serve people at a spaghetti
dinner. Our clients are interested in meeting new and
exciting adventures. These motivated youths and young
adults feel that community service is a very important part of
an individual's life and they are always looking for
organizations that need volunteers to assist with events and
everyday tasks.
